Baptism Matters To Jesus
Baptism is important to Jesus. It’s a public declaration of faith and should never be take lightly. Jesus himself stood before John the Baptist and said that in order to fulfill all righteousness, he (Jesus) needed to be baptized.
Baptism is a Public Testimony
Baptism testifies to your faith and represent full immersion into the life of Christ. When you go under the water, your body is soaked—and in the same way, your life becomes soaked in the presence of Jesus.
Baptism is Obedience To Jesus’ Command
Jesus clearly commanded baptism in Matthew 28: 18-20:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. God therefore and make disciplies of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And behold I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Baptism Unites Us with Jesus
Romans 6:3-4 teaches that baptism is a powerful sign of our union with Christ:
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
